When Was This Introduced in Japan?

The midurethral sling procedure was first introduced in Japan around 2001 (over 20 years ago).

The TVT (Tension-Free Vaginal Tape) method was the original technique, and from the beginning, it was performed under local anesthesia.

Later, even less invasive techniques like TVT-O (transobturator approach) became available, further enhancing safety and outcomes.
